So a few weeks ago this all changed. I had gotten off work and as usual was in my house relaxing when I realized I hadn't watered my garden in a few days. I ran outside to go turn on the water when there in the middle of my lawn was what looked to me to be a cactus with 2 HUGE eyes peering up at me. What the heck?! Then it made a noise at me, "meow!" What in the world? I don't have a cat, and why is there cactus all over it? The poor thing ran and hid in my garden and upon further inspection I discovered what looked like a young cat, covered with chunks of cactus stuck all over its body. I mean like big pieces of the cactus branches stuck to its back, legs, tail and stomach, it looked so painful! I didn't know what to do and thought it should go to the vet right away but then decided to first see if it would let me take the cactus off myself. Slowly, and with gloves on, I pulled some of the bigger cactus branches off and the cat didn't move a muscle! I figured I might as well keep going and got her on my lap (cautiously of course trying to avoid any contact with my eyes and nose so not to start a sneezing attack) and began to take the cactus out, and the little thing just laid there even purring at times! She was surprisingly so sweet, I think she knew that I was helping her. I took this picture right before I got to her face, she was seriously covered.

After a few hours of working away, pulling tiny piece of cactus out after tiny piece of cactus out, I was able to get most of the problematic parts cleaned up and I think give her some much appreciated relief as well. I bought some food for her and she ate it up and then with a full stomach, she fell asleep on my lounge chair. I thought for certain she would wander off at night but to my surprise, when I woke in the morning she was still on my patio. 2 weeks later this kitty has not left my house but only for the occasional night/afternoon escaped. I have now come to the realization that she has become my cat and have gotten her checked out with the vet and given her a collar and of course a name.
So with no further adiue her is Stickers!

Awww, Piper. She's cute! And that really IS saying something, because I'm not a cat person either. Congrats "mom"! ;)
