Living the Dream

It began with 4 friends. We didn't just grow up together, we were born together. Separated by only a few months in age (from youngest to oldest....That's you Lora) and a few streets in distance, it seems we left the spirit world and were dropped off just a stones throw away from each other on Montecito Meadow Drive. It was a pretty short trip to earth if you ask me.

Some might call it divine planning but I prefer the phrase cosmic sisters (it just sounds way cooler.) Anyway you look at it, us girls were meant to grow up with each other. We went to the same school, were in the same grade, had many of the same teachers, went to the same church, went to girls camp together, got in trouble together and made so many memories together. It was the best childhood that anyone could imagine and I am forever grateful to have these girls in my life.

Junior High and High School came along and amongst other additions to our circle of friends I was blessed with the friendships of Miji and Michelle. These girls are hilarious, enough said.

30 years has gone by and although life has taken each of us down our own separate paths we haven't strayed too far from our roots. Lora is still in awesome California (I'm a little jealous), Miji and Michelle in Utah and the other 3 of us have ended up in Phoenix AZ. Can you believe that? It doesn't seem like we will ever get away from each other now. So after 30 years of life and friendship we decided a reunion/vacation was in order and with a little help from Facebook we started to plan the trip and within hours it was done (I love Facebook.) We're going to Vegas, getting a hotel with Mijis help, driving in Rebeccas car and buying a pass to get into all of the coolest attractions. Sweet! Although we did experience some pretty fun activities I don't think anything can compare to the feeling of reminiscing with old friends. You know the feeling, the one of laughing so hard your stomach now resonates with the pain equivalent to doing 10,000 sit-ups. The feeling of laughing so hard your squinting eyes now have tears coming from them as you try to contain your uncontainable giggling. The feeling of being so tired from talking but not wanting to go to bed and miss out on more conversation. Ah yes, those are good times.

It was  a 4 day long trip and we took advantage of every moment.

The Wax Museum:

I had to get a picture with Lady Gaga.

Vegas pictures:

Max Brenner:
This is by far the best restaurant when it comes to chocolate. Lora had been here before and insisted that we stop by on this trip and of course none of us turned down a good chocolate recommendation. It was heavenly and the desserts didn't just taste good, they were serious works of art.

I got the classic hot chocolate in the signature "hug mug." It was like drinking the most exquisite chocolate bar, not too thick but not too runny, it was just right.

Lora's concoction was HUGE!

I got some chocolate bars to take home.

Dolphin and Tiger exhibit:

I just thought this picture should follow the dolphin one. They look similar.

The Stratosphere:

Steak Dinner:
I was dying for a steak dinner and I finally got my wish on our last night in Vegas.

Sky Zone: So this was by far the most fun part of the trip. Who would of thought jumping around on giant trampolines and flinging yourself into a foam pit is fun at 30 years old??! It was hilarious but it was a good thing we got there 30 mins before they closed because there was no way I couldn't have jumped any longer.

Other details of the trip included, walking up and down the strip for miles as we tried to locate the right hotel, wearing 5 inch heels while walking up and down the strip for miles as we tried to locate the right hotel (a whole different kind of not fun experience), going to the top of the Paris hotel, riding the New York New York roller coaster, riding the monorail, eating at Planet Hollywood, shopping at H & M, going to a Beatles concert, hot tubing and floating the lazy river, going to a random sacrament meeting on Sunday, taking bathroom breaks for Miji, teaching Michelle how to play a slot machine, buying way too much food and then giving it all to Christy before we left town, and last but not least, stopping by Smiths grocery store to get my favorite cookie.

With so many activities we each were able to "live out a dream" of ours and the trip was a success. I am so happy and lucky that the circumstances for everyone lined up for the trip. I think it should be an annual thing but if not we told so random people we met in Vegas that we'd be back for our 40th haha.
